I rewrote an article and later noticed it still had several spelling mistakes, which is making it look unprofessional and hurting readability. I need help finding the best way to rewrite or clean up content with spelling and grammar fixes without changing the original meaning too much. Looking for advice on article rewriter tools, proofreading tips, or SEO-friendly editing methods.
Use a two-step fix.
First, run the article through a spelling and grammar checker. Grammarly, LanguageTool, and Microsoft Editor all do this well. LanguageTool is solid if you want a cheaper option. Grammarly catches more context errors, but it misses niche terms sometimes.
Second, do a human pass. Read it out loud. Slow. Your eyes skip mistakes when you already know the sentence. Reading out loud catches weird phrasing fast. If the article is long, paste it into Hemingway too. It helps trim clunky lines, though it is more style than spelling.
If you want someone else to clean it up, hire a proofreader, not an ‘article rewriter.’ Rewriters often change meaning. Proofreaders fix errors. Big diffrence.
My quick stack:
- LanguageTool or Grammarly
- Read aloud
- Final pass in Google Docs
- If it matters for work, pay a proofreader on Upwork or Fiverr, but check samples first
If you paste the text here, people can point out the worst parts.
I’d actually push back a little on the “article rewriter” idea. If the main issue is spelling mistakes, rewriting is kinda overkill and can make the piece sound weirdly generic. You probably need copyediting, not rewriting.
What I’d do instead:
- Use spellcheck with your document language set correctly. A lot of errors slip through when it’s on the wrong English variant.
- Print it or change the font/size on screen. Sounds dumb, works surprsingly well because your brain stops auto-filling words.
- Check for repeated problem areas: homophones, missing commas, names, product terms, headings.
- If the article is important, pay for a copyeditor specifically. Not a content spinner, not a “rewriter.”
I agree with @suenodelbosque on using a human pass, but I’d skip Hemingway unless style is also the problem. For pure cleanup, editing tools plus a real editor beat rewriting every time. If you want, paste a paragraph and people can probly spot the pattern fast.
